American Lindy Hop Championships

After winning Cat?s Corner last summer, Stan and I qualified for the American Lindy Hop Championships in Connecticut. We took 6th place there last weekend in the American Showcase Division but made a killing in the Pro/Am division. We were lucky enough to dance with Ben and Sheri Yau from California. Stan took second place dancing with Sheri to ?Gang Busters? by Cats & The Fiddle and I took 1st with Ben ripping it up to Sidney Bechet?s ?Blues my naughty sweetie gives to me?.

It was great seeing all our friends and social dancing until we were too tired to move! We had a lot of fun getting the east coast experience along with meeting Frankie Manning! ( see photo here ) We will be doing a demo of our competition number this weekend at Sving du Nord if you want to come on out and watch. Thanks again to Ben and Sheri for helping us make a memorable weekend!

Camp Hollywood updates

The last weekend was a lot of fun. We competed in...AM Balboa, AM Lindy, Showcase, Jitterbug and IM J&J. Made finals in AM Bal & Jitterbug. Stan took 4th in IM J&J (which was originally called the Pro J&J but they added an instructors J&J this year). We took 4th place in Showcase, and the best yet....we are the National Jitterbug Champions in the Amateur Lindy Division for 2007! The contest results are on the website: www.camphollywood.net

We have been working towards this for awhile and we were very proud of our results this year! We are staying an extra week here. We already went surfing, we are dancing with locals every night and just having fun.

P.S. Special thanks to our hosts Ben and Sheri; Shesha and Nikki

Stamina

What does stamina means? Stamina is the capability of sustaining prolonged stressful effort. For some it means sexual strength, for some it means physical endurance in sports, for others it means over-20-minutes dancing to fast-tempo swing music. Here are some pictures of those two crazy... from the MN Lindy Fundraiser-III, Stamina Contest

Joke

The performance review is intended to be a cooperative effort between supervisor and employee where job responsibilities and objectives are mutually agreed upon so that the employee can effectively perform his/her responsibilities. The employee should share his/her feelings with the supervisor. It may be necessary to be inventive nowadays in order to do well during performance review. Everybody went through that process. Here is something funny about it.
